Our Story

I have been cooking BBQ (successfully) since 1997.

Back in 2010-2011, I started competing in local BBQ competitions in the central Texas area. As I made my way, I began getting requests for briskets from my first competition. But as we continued, we realized that we had more focus on the food that we were preparing for our customers than we were on the competition. So we started cooking regularly from our home and doing an occasional cook-off. I had 3 regular catering accounts that requested catering 3-5 times a year at minimum with attendance of anywhere from 15-80 plates and plenty of local fans in Texas.

Having people ask you to make BBQ for them in Texas is a big deal. It's a task not to be taken lightly!

We interviewed and secured a 1 year contract with Circuit Of The Americas, The US Formula 1 Race Track located in Austin Texas, as an overflow vendor.

My family has been in and around BBQ dating to to my child hood days in the 70's. My father used to turn briskets for a couple of local joints in my home town of Lampasas , Texas. I love Bar-b-que, I love the smell of it and I love cooking it. I cut my teeth as a Pitmaster in central Texas along side some of central Texas' most talented BBQ Pitmasters that I'm still in contact with today. I have a passion for the craft and a strong will to succeed at it.

Port Townsend has been without BBQ (Dos Okies) in town since about 2014 without having to leave town for it until we opened in 2015.

My wife, Heather, and I moved to Port Townsend in Jan of 2015. Heather grew up here in Port Townsend. Her family moved here in the mid 80's. We opened our business July 4th weekend and started selling our home town BBQ here in the pacific north west. We started out working 1-2 days a week in Jefferson county And around Port Townsend. Soon after in 2016, we had a fairly steady route in town and a couple stops outside of town.

Since 2016 each year before our season starts in April, we pretty much have our route and catering schedule at about 98-99% capacity.

We've grown our business from vending just a couple of days a week to mobile vending regular stops, local concerts, private catering, weddings and several other corporate accounts. We now have a very faithful following and are becoming a regular name in our area. We have referrals and regular customers that reach from Olympia to Forks, Washington and many places in between. That gives us a reach of about 150 mile radius.

We're extremely excited to be a part of something special here in the PNW and we can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
